They insist there's no need for a meeting to discuss the position they find themselves in but the Titans' hopes for a finals berth in 2017 have been dealt a further blow with confirmation that Konrad Hurrell is looking at a month on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.
Although Hurrell is hopeful that he will miss only two or three games, the more likely scenario is four weeks out after he was forced from the field after just 10 minutes in Gold Coast's 24-16 loss to the Panthers on Saturday.
The assignment now for the Titans is a simple one; win all six of their remaining games in the regular season starting with Sunday's clash with the Wests Tigers at Cbus Super Stadium.
After the Dragons and Eels both won in Round 20 even 30 competition points might not be enough for a Gold Coast team with a negative points differential to qualify for finals football but back-rower Joe Greenwood says they have no option but to get past the disappointment of losing Hurrell and notch a win against the Tigers on Sunday.
"It's huge. He gets our sets rolling, he's a powerful centre and it's going to be a massive blow for us," Greenwood told NRL.com of the impact of losing Hurrell who has scored nine tries in 16 games this season. "I'm sure whoever comes in will fill the spot and do a good job.
"These last six games are crucial and we're just going to give it our all and hopefully get them wins under our belt.
"We just need to play with confidence, not go into our shell or anything like that and play how we've been playing when we've beat Melbourne and when we've beat Cronulla twice.
"It was one that got away but it happens and that's gone now that game and we look forward to the Wests Tigers game at the weekend."
The right side of the Titans' attack was a major strength of their recent three-game winning streak with the combination between Ash Taylor, Kevin Proctor, Hurrell and Anthony Don contributing the majority of their tries.
With Kane Elgey making his return from a sternum injury with a brief cameo last Saturday one option open to coach Neil Henry is to move Jarryd Hayne to right centre, shift Tyrone Roberts to fullback and reunite Elgey with Taylor in the halves.
Since his Origin involvement with the Blues Hayne has been one of the Titans' best in his preferred position at fullback and while he is happy to leave the selection decisions to the coaching staff said the equation for the Titans is a simple one.
"I don't think we need a meeting for that. I think we're all pretty aware of what we need to do," Hayne said of their finals prospects.
"We need a bit of luck to go our way as well and need six from six I guess."
Fresh off his 150th game for the club last weekend veteran William Zillman said that the hardest thing to reconcile is that even if they can win six games in succession their finals fate could rest in the hands of other teams.
"It's never a nice situation to be in," Zillman said of the dreaded mathematicians getting involved in finals calculations.
"It's never a nice feeling especially knowing that you potentially need to rely on other results as well but it really is for us now the old cliche of taking it week to week.
"We don't need to talk about the fact that we need to win five out of six or six out of six, we all know that.
"We just need to look forward now and obviously we need to win the majority of our remaining games if we want a chance at a finals berth."
