Consistent NRL performer Jesse Bromwich celebrates a deserving 100-game milestone on Friday night when he runs out for the Storm against the Broncos in Brisbane.
A member of the club’s 2012 premiership-winning team, Bromwich has since built himself into one of the game's best big men.
The Kiwi international is ranked in the top three in the competition for hit-up metres and offloads this season.
It is no surprise the Storm were over the moon when Bromwich put pen to paper on a new deal in March – tying him to the club for a further four years.
Bromwich has also been a picture of consistency having played 72 consecutive games in the purple jersey – a streak dating back to the 2011 Qualifying Final against Newcastle.
It is a record the humble prop puts down to clever player management by his club but admits notching the century will be something he will hold dear to him.
“It is something I am really proud of,” said Bromwich. “I love this club and to do that for this club is special for me and my family.”
Both mum and dad, along with his partner and son, are based in Melbourne and will make the trip to Suncorp Stadium on Friday night.
It is a journey for Bromwich that started when he signed with the Storm in 2009 and was named the under-20s forward of the year in his first season.
But it was in 2011 that he points out as the turning point in his career.
“I was playing in and out of first grade in 2010 and I had a big pre-season at the end of that year,” said Bromwich.
“I really wanted to make it in the team and cement a spot.
“That year [2011] was the year I guess I stepped up and wanted to be an NRL player.”
Bromwich now faces the challenge of becoming a leader at Melbourne.
A shy and humble bloke, leadership is not something that comes naturally to the 25-year-old but is something he is committed to improving on.
“I should be ready for that now,” said Bromwich. “I am one of the quieter boys in meetings so I really have to pick that up.
“But I like to lead with my actions so I might keep it to that for the rest of this year.”
Given the season the big Kiwi is currently having, that would be something that would sit just fine with Storm fans as their team braces for a run into the finals.
