After being described as the only Rooster who "could hold his head up" after a disappointing effort against the Sharks, Daniel Tupou has criticised his team's attitude on Sunday afternoon.
"We didn't take the Sharks seriously and I guess that affected how we played today," the Blues Origin winger said.
"We didn't complete many sets in the second half so that kind of put us in trouble."
With 20 errors, the Roosters performance against the Sharks is a huge turnaround from their dominant Monday night win over the Storm just six days prior.
Both coach Trent Robinson and hooker Jake Friend said the team came to Shark Park on Sunday afternoon complacent because of their previous result.
Meanwhile the Sharks were as motivated as ever after copping an absolute hammering at the hands of the Dragons in their last outing.
"It's always tough playing the Sharks," Tupou said. "They're a tough side especially in the forward pack and they sort of shut us down early, they did a good job tonight."
With 13 runs for 143 metres, five tackle breaks and a linebreak, Tupou was one of the few standout performers for the Tricolours, but perhaps the highlight of his performance was his ability in defusing attacking bombs from the Sharks.
The Cronulla halves peppered him with high balls in what was a questionable tactic and Tupou was faultless in taking them.
"They kept testing me and I guess you've just got to catch those ones at the end of the day and I think I did that well," Tupou said.
With Brett Morris scheduled to return from injury against the Dragons on Monday, Tupou's wing position for the Blues may be under some threat, however the tall winger said he's just happy to see Morris return to action.
"I've just got to wait and see but I'm happy to see him back and to see him back in the Origin squad will be good," he said.
"See how we go, I'm not really focused on that [Origin] at the moment, I'm just thinking about getting recovered and getting ready for next week for the Roosters."
