New Sharks fullback Valentine Holmes has praised his side's spirit after their huge upset victory over the in-form Roosters on Easter Sunday.

The Sharks' 20-12 victory over the Roosters came against all the odds, thanks to a big effort from every player in the team.
"The boys came out 100 per cent on everything they did and they did their job and got the win in the end," Holmes told NRL.com.
"I'm just really happy to get the first win, it has been a long time, 10 games I think."
The Sharks victory was thanks in no small part to another huge performance from boom youngster Jack Bird.
Holmes said Bird's performance has created a selection headache for coach Shane Flanagan, with Ben Barba scheduled to return from suspension for Friday's clash with the Knights.
"He was the best I've seen," Holmes said.
"So he probably secures that spot for weeks to come.
"I'm sure Flanno will put Benny in somewhere as well and keep Birdy in there, he'll figure out something."
With veteran Michael Gordon having a mortgage on the fullback position until this week it was Holmes' first game playing in his preferred spot at the back.
Despite still playing wing in defence, Holmes has relished the extra attacking space with the ball in hand.
"I love it, it's my favourite position so hopefully I can get a bit more time there, at the moment I'm just learning from Flash (Gordon)," the 19-year-old said.
"I just enjoy the space, I think that's what Flanno wants me to do, just try to create my own space.
"Most of the play calls come from Robbo (Jeff Robson) and Birdy but I normally talk to my centres and wingers and tell them what to do and where to run."
The Sharks looked dangerous when Holmes had room to move in attack, but also muscled up in defence against a team that ran riot scoring 34 points last week.
"We spoke about that during the week just targeting their key players, Maloney and that, the boys just stepped up really well in defence. Our spacing was good, our talk was good on the field and the forwards really muscled up in the middle," Holmes said.
Looking ahead to next Friday's clash with the Knights off a short turnaround, the Sharks back said their big performance could be a turning point.
"I think the boys are all more confident now and we are all more happy so hopefully it can carry on for the rest of the year."
