Rookie Canberra Raiders centre Matthew Allwood will move across the ditch to the Warriors at the end of the 2014 season after signing with the club for three seasons, tying him there until 2017.

Allwood debuted in the NRL in Round 1 this year against the North Queensland Cowboys and has so far managed to play nine games at the top level.

With Anthony Milford signing with the Brisbane Broncos for next year, the Raiders' backline depth has taken another blow with Allwood's departure.

Warriors head coach Andrew McFadden knows about Allwood's quality from his time as assistant coach of Canberra's NRL side from 2010-2012.

"I saw Matt come through Canberra's system into the NYC and was impressed with him from the outset," McFadden said.

"He's quick and he's a tough kid, too. It's great to have a young player of his ability coming into the club to add to add depth and quality to our centres.

"It will help make the environment really competitive, which is just what we need."
