Like his side's performance against the Storm on Sunday, Wests Tigers coach Jason Taylor had mixed feelings surrounding their 29-20 loss.
The Tigers trailed 26-0 at half-time before scoring 20 unanswered points to open the second half, but were unable to catch the Storm after a Cooper Cronk field goal in the 76th minute put the game beyond doubt.
Taylor overall was displeased with his side's showing, although he did praise the Tigers' second half work ethic that got themselves back in the game.
"We'll leave the ground tonight desperately disappointed that we didn't win the game," Taylor said.
"We showed we were good enough to win the game but we probably beat ourselves in the first half with errors. We just found no momentum, the Storm were really good and really strong, but we helped them.
"The numbers were just ridiculous in regards to weight of possession to half-time, but the way we turned that around was great. So much pride from the players in regards to their effort and energy, and to turn that around after half-time was massive and very good to see."
Taylor's message at halftime wasn't extra motivational or inspirational, but said he told his side to get back to the basics and do the simple things right.
"We had to get ourselves back in the game, and just those simple things that you need to start any game with. The biggest thing that we challenged the guys with was that if we were to be any chance we needed to hold the ball," Taylor said.
"When you're 26-0 down the first thing you want to do is chase points, but you make more errors and the scoreboard blows out.
"The way they responded and the way they controlled the ball in the second half… to play the way we did and score the four tries that we did score was a great show of control from the team, and then it's all really frustrating and disappointing because where was it in the first 40 minutes."
One of the major second half catalysts was the brilliant play of James Tedesco, as the fullback ran for 159 metres and also added a try to his name.
Another strong performance from Tedesco adds fuel to the fire surrounding a potential Origin call up, however Taylor was bewildered as to why he hadn't featured yet this season.
"He'd done enough to warrant an Origin call up a few weeks ago," Taylor said.
"He wasn't in Origin Game One because he was injured, and he should have been in Origin II, and should be in Origin III. I think it's pretty simple, it's clear to see, I don't understand why he's not there."
