Brisbane forward Adam Blair says he is happy to fill the void left by the suspension of second-row forward Sam Thaiday.
Thaiday has received a two-match ban following his dangerous tackle on New South Wales captain Paul Gallen in the Maroons' 26-16 win over the Blues in Game Two on Wednesday night.
It means Thaiday will miss matches against the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs and the Melbourne Storm, with both clashes looking at having major ramifications on all three team's chances of making the top four and securing a vital double chance.
The match against the Bulldogs will be a huge test for Brisbane, with the side now missing five regular starters in Jack Reed, Alex Glenn, Jordan Kahu, Andrew McCullough and Thaiday.
Blair is currently named to start on the interchange bench, but the New Zealand international said he is happy to slot into the second row if coach Wayne Bennett sees that as a viable option in Thaiday's absence.
"To be honest, I'm just happy being in the side. It's a tough team to crack and I'm happy to do whatever works for the team," Blair said.
"If Wayne wants me off the bench or in the second row then I'll do it.
"If Wayne wants to change the game up a bit and move me around then I'm happy to do what I need to do for the team.
"I just love being in the team so I'll play wherever they need me."
The 30-year-old has had an up and down season so far in 2016, with his year featuring two suspensions and a shift back to Brisbane's bench.
The move to the interchange came after Brisbane's 18-point loss to the New Zealand Warriors and just two weeks after being named captain for their clash against the Wests Tigers.
The recent announcement of the retirement of current captain Corey Parker at the end of the year means that the captaincy will again be vacant in Brisbane next year, and Blair says it's something that has crossed his mind.
"This is a very special club that has had some great leaders," he said.
"It's always good to have your name put in there amongst the leaders of the team.
"I won't think about it properly until I need to.
"If I get a run in the captaincy I'd love it but at the same time it doesn't bother me. I'm here to do what I need to do for the team."
