The Broncos started the season winning seven from eight games and all the experts were predicating big things from them in their first season after the retirement of Darren Lockyer, so what has happened to the top-four favourites?
Tonight on NRL Daily hosts John Gibbs and Joel Caine analyse the Broncos' performance over the last month to see what has caused them to slump to three losses in four matches.
“The Broncos should be disappointed if when the season ends they are not in the top four,” says Gibbs. “They have things to address and it needs to be done quickly.
“They allowed Parramatta to score five tries in the first half and it could have and should have been more, and that’s a concern when you think of how the Eels have been going... the Broncos have issues.”
Joel Caine agrees with Gibbs on the Broncos and points to their mounting injury lists as a real concern.
“The Broncos depth is not as good as we thought,” says Caine, who is a strong believer in teams needing to have back-up players ready to step in if a team is going to threaten for a premiership.
