The NRL has joined forces with the Men of League and The Star in Sydney to organise a tribute evening next month to remember the life of Sharnie Kimmorley.

Sharnie tragically passed away earlier this year after fighting a brave battle against brain cancer.

Sharnie was a loving wife and childhood sweetheart of NRL legend Brett Kimmorley and left behind Brett, the couple’s four daughters, as well as extended family and friends.

NRL CEO Todd Greenberg, a close friend of the Kimmorley family himself, said the rugby league community had been rallying around Brett and his four daughters since Sharnie’s passing.

"The loss of any close one is incredibly traumatic, let alone a life-long partner and mother," Mr Greenberg said.

"Brett has given so much of his life to rugby league and supporting others and it is our time now to be able to support him and his family after the sad loss of Sharnie."

To support Brett and the couple’s four daughters, the rugby league family will be hosting a celebration evening on Tuesday 15 August at The Star in Sydney.

Former and current players will be in attendance, together with special performances by a host of stars, including Guy Sebastian and Mark Vincent.

Channel Seven’s Jim Wilson and Fox League’s Yvonne Sampson will co-host the evening, in support of Brett and the work that he does for both networks.

A range of auction items will also be available for those attending on the night to bid on, as well as those who cannot attend in person and simply want to support from afar.

Items include:

- 4 x Category A tickets to see Ed Sheeran live at ANZ Stadium in 2018

- 2017 VIP Grand Final package for four – including a GF ambassadors cruise, platinum tickets, food and beverage package and a signed jersey by the Grand Final victorious team

- Affinity Diamonds 18 carat white gold diamond chandelier earrings

The event is open to the public, with further information on the night, including the option to purchase tickets or simply donate, available at www.kimmorleyfundraiser.eventbrite.com.au

Proceeds from the evening will go to the Sebastian Foundation, in support of the Kimmorley family and helping Brett and Sharnie’s four daughters with their futures.
