Luke, Heighington facing two-match bans

Luke, Heighington facing two-match bans

South Sydney hooker Issac Luke and Cronulla forward Chris Heighington could both miss two matches after they were cited for Grade 1 Dangerous Throws in their respective Round 17 games by the NRL match review committee.

Luke was charged for his tackle on Penrith's Tyrone Peachey in the 46th minute of the Rabbitohs' 18-6 loss to the Panthers at Pepper Stadium on Friday night.

Luke can escape with a one-match ban if he takes an early guilty plea, but would risk a two-match suspension if he fights the charge at the NRL judiciary and loses.

Heighington was also charged with a Grade 1 Dangerous Throw on Manly's Josh Starling during Cronulla's 28-16 loss at Brookvale Oval on Sunday afternoon. However a prior similar offence in the previous two years means Heighington is facing a two-match ban even with an early guilty plea.

Both players have until midday Tuesday to enter their pleas.
