The NRL’s partnership with clubs to invest in membership has seen the number of NRL Club Members surpass 100,000 for the first time in the game’s history.

The Rabbitohs and Broncos head a list of nine NRL clubs that achieved record club membership levels in 2009.

In a show of loyalty from fans across the NRL, Premiers Manly (44 per cent increase) and last year’s wooden spooners Canterbury (48 per cent increase) celebrated the biggest increases in membership levels with the Bulldogs this week breaking 6000 members for the first time in their history.

The Sharks, Wests Tigers, Dragons, Raiders and Warriors also recorded record club memberships as 13 clubs increased membership levels from 2008.

The record-breaking result reflects the investment the NRL and its clubs have made in membership programs since 2006, including advertising campaigns, increased membership benefits, online offers and the appointment of a full-time NRL Club Membership Manager.

“Membership numbers across the game more than doubled since 2006 and that reflects the investment the NRL and the clubs have made in membership and the benefits it offers for fans,” NRL Chief Executive, Mr David Gallop.

“Club Membership provides an even more affordable way to attend Telstra Premiership matches and is the best way for fans to become part of their club.

“It is not too late to become an NRL Club Member this season and enjoy the many benefits that membership brings.”
