After almost two years in the wilderness, talented playmaker Richie Williams is looking to make his return to the NRL after being provided with lifeline by Titans Coach John Cartwright.

The former Penrith and St George pivot joining the Titans Full time squad for pre-season training at Robina today.

For Williams this is the second week he has endured under Titans Performance manager, Chris McLellan as he attempts resurrect his career by securing a full time contract with the Titans.

Currently signed to the Titans Feeder team the Burleigh Bears, Williams Hopes to make the most of the opportunity he’s been given by the Titans.

“Carty has taken me on board, testing me out to see how I go, see if I still got it.”

“I’d like to think I still do, but time will tell, I just gotta put in the hard yards for the pre-season, play the trials and see how I go.”

Williams faces some stiff competition for a place in the halves at the Titans with Preston Campbell and Greg Bird the front runners for the number six jumper, while talented teen Jordan Rankin is now also a member of the Titans full time squad.

Cartwright quick though to rule Williams out of the race.

“He has a lot of ability, Richie, this is probably the first pre-season he has had in a while so we know what he can do on the field and he is going to get every chance to do that.”
