Sydney Roosters new recruit Anthony Watts has torn his anterior cruciate ligament and will be sidelined for six months.

The 24-year-old, who signed from North Queensland Cowboys on a three year deal at the end of 2010, has meetings with surgeons tomorrow morning and is hopeful of going under the knife this week.

The injury occurred during a pre-season training drill, where Watts was holding tackling pads and when forced back felt his knee go under him.

Watts will be aiming for a return midway through the 2011 season.
