It was exactly a year to the day last Wednesday Roosters forward Jared Waerea-Hargreaves dislocated his shoulder in a pre-season training mishap, disrupting his preparations for the 2010 season.

A year later and Jared is deep in to a full pre-season schedule, injury free and ready to lift his game to help the team go one better this season.

“I’m just really glad I’m getting a full pre-season under my belt because I really want to improve my game this year and become as consistent as I possibly can as well as staying injury free,” he said.

“The injury last year was disappointing and held me back a little so I was so glad we got last Wednesday off training so I didn’t jinx anything.”

Hargreaves is still beaming after being part of New Zealand’s successful Four Nations squad, a time he rates as the best experience of his life.

“Being part of a winning team and just being around the squad was absolutely amazing I didn’t really want the time to end,” he said.

Once the tournament did end the young forward wasted no time racking up the frequent flyer points heading to Hawaii, New Zealand and Queensland over the Christmas break.

Now back in training, the young Kiwi says he is excited by the increased maturity displayed in the pre-season by the younger players in the squad.

“There are a lot of young boys in the squad and were all growing up and are a lot more confident around the group this pre-season and hopefully it will help us go one better this year.”
