The Panthers will field a near full-strength side with Luke Lewis, Petero Civoniceva and Michael Jennings all named to play in the Battle of the West trial against the Eels this Saturday at Penrith's Centrebet Stadium.

Panthers coach Matthew Elliott has named a 20-man squad
with new recruit Arana Taumata taking on the role as five-eight in Penrith's final trial before the season proper starts in just two weeks.

Taumata steps in for Travis Burns who will be missing after taking an early plea for a dangerous contact charge from a tackle on Shannon McDonnell during last week's trial against the Knights.

Michael Gordon has been named at fullback while Lachlan Coote returns from off-season surgery on his groin and has been named on the bench.

The team is: 1. Michael Gordon 2. David Simmons 3. Brad Tighe 4. Michael Jennings 5. Sandor Earl 6. Arana Taumata 7. Luke Walsh 8. Tim Grant 9. Kevin Kingston 10. Petero Civoniceva 11. Matthew Bell 12. Adrian Purtell 13. Luke Lewis 14. Sam McKendry 15. Nigel Plum 16. Lachlan Coote 17. Yileen Gordon 18. Masada Iosefa 19. Ryan Walker 20. Sarafu Fatiaki.

The Battle of the West is now in its 3rd year of competition between the western Sydney rivals of the Panthers and Eels.

In its inaugural year the Eels won 18-10 while last year the Panthers took the Cup back by defeating the Eels 32-12.

Ticketed members of both clubs receive free entry to the game by scanning their new 2011 Ticketed Membership pass.

The NRL trial will kick off at 7.30pm at Centrebet Stadium Penrith, with the NYC trial at 5.30pm and the NSW Cup between feeder clubs the Windsor Wolves and Wentworthville kicking off at 3.45pm.

Following the Battle of the West game will be the free Panthers Family/Members BBQ on Sunday (Feb 27). Starting at midday, members and fans will be able to meet the players, take part in football clinics and enjoy a BBQ with their team prior to the start of the 2011 season.

*Please note the kick-off for the game is 7.30pm not 8.00pm as first reported.
