Queensland fullback Billy Slater says simply playing for their state, not captain Darren Lockyer's final Origin Series, is motivation enough for the Maroons in the 2011 Harvey Norman State of Origin Series starting on Wednesday.

"It's not something we focus on in camp," Slater said, ahead of Game 1 at Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium.

"Darren has been a great player for a number of years ... but to play for Queensland doing the job for our state is at the forefront of our minds.

"The result will take care of itself. We just need to focus on the things we need to do well so that we won't need the motivation of Darren Lockyer's last game."

Slater said playing two "home" games at Suncorp Stadium for the first time 2007 since is a bonus.

"It is a huge advantage, but we need to make it an advantage by playing well," he said.
