The Australian Rugby League and Queensland Rugby League have agreed in principle to resolve a State of Origin sponsorship issue.

The net result is that Queensland sponsor XXXX will not appear on ground signage in Sydney and NSW sponsor VB will not appear on ground signage at Suncorp Stadium.

“We have always been confident that the matter would be resolved,” NRL Director of Marketing and Commercial, Mr Paul Kind, said today.

“It is a shame two valued sponsors got caught up in what have been some misleading statements that have appeared in the media but it has been a reminder of how keen sponsors are to be a part an iconic event such as Origin.

“Queensland, the NSWRL Board and ANZ Stadium were well aware that the NSWRL was negotiating a contract with VB, who as well as having a long-term association with NSW are the sponsors of the Kangaroos and the beer of the NRL.

“We look forward to working with all parties over the next seven weeks in what promises to be an incredibly successful Harvey Norman State of Origin Series.”
