Sharks prop Luke Douglas could make a stunning early comeback from injury on Friday night – despite being ruled out for six weeks after straining a medial ligament at the start of the week.

Douglas, who had played in 133 straight games up until last weekend, has made an incredible comeback from injury after fronting up to training on Thursday from 6am until 7.30pm.

"On Thursday he turned up at the stadium at 6am for ice treatment and physio," Sharks coach Shane Flanagan told News Ltd.

"He was still there when we left training at 7.30pm last night. True story. You've never seen anything like it.

"He asked to have a light run with the rest of the boys and he got through okay. He's just so professional."

Sharks club doctor David Givney described Douglas's recovery as "incredible".

"Nothing surprises you with Luke. It's just another example of this guy's incredible resilience," Dr Givney told News.

"When he came off on Sunday we thought it was a grade two to three medial ligament strain and the diagnosis was six weeks."
