Keith Galloway was shocked in more ways than one when he heard he had made the NSW Origin squad.
A very humble man, the hardworking Wests Tigers prop didn’t even know the NSW Blues team was being picked tonight for Game III of the Harvey Norman State of Origin Series at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium on Wednesday week, July 6.
Galloway was at home relaxing and noticed he had several missed calls on his mobile phone from Wests Tigers CEO Stephen Humphreys, Head Coach Tim Sheens and Football Operations Manager Alan Mair.
“I went through the messages and that’s how I found out. It is pretty exciting,’’ Galloway said.
“I’m just looking forward to getting into camp tomorrow and meeting the other players."
It is Galloway’s first selection in the NSW squad after representing City Origin for the past three years. His name has always been branded about as a future Blues player.
“I’ve just been plugging away and doing my job for Wests Tigers so this is a nice reward,'' Galloway said.
“It is great to be part of the Blues squad. Naturally I would love to be picked in the 17 man side but I will take it as comes.
“I will have my fingers crossed but if I don’t get to play, then it still going to be exciting to just be in camp. I plan to soak it all up and just enjoy the experience.”
