Former Castleford head coach Terry Matterson will join the Cowboys as assistant coach to Neil Henry from November, replacing Michael Crawley who will take up a position with the Newcastle Knights.

Matterson played 166 NRL games for the Brisbane Broncos, where he won two premierships, and the Sydney Roosters and represented New South Wales in the 1989 State of Origin series.

Meanwhile, Steve Hooper will take over from Sean Edwards, who has joined South Sydney, as North Queensland’s strength coach.
