Rugby league great Peter Sterling says he has two pieces of advice for the Manly and Warriors players fighting it out in this week's grand final – enjoy yourself, and don't change a thing.

Sterling said players involved in the NRL decider should soak up the atmosphere of Grand Final Week, but that they should also prepare for the game itself as if it was any other contest.

"It is one of the best weeks of a player's life so to not sit back and savour it would be an absolute waste," Sterling said.

"And it's not just about the game. I think you've got to soak up the whole atmosphere of the week leading up to it. Don't get carried away, but certainly enjoy being the centre of attention.

"The second thing is to not change anything. So although this is a grand final, you've got to treat it the same way as you do a trial game or any club game, and by doing so, that will get you your best performance."
