Former NRL star Trent Barrett reveals his top five picks for the Indigenous All Stars team with voting for the side well underway.

In its third year, the 2012 Harvey Norman All Stars match will kick off on February 4 at Skilled Park on the Gold Coast, and will showcase a week of community programs in the lead up to the big game.

Barrett is urging fans to get on board and vote for their favourite Indigenous players to ensure they "don’t miss out.

“Pick your favourite players. It doesn’t matter where they play, put them in the positions you think they are suited to," Barrett said.

“Sam Thaiday would be in my forward pack, I’d have Benny Barba on the bench and Jamal Idris too; he can cover a lot of positions. Two centres; I’d have (Justin) Hodges and Greg Inglis, and JT (Johnathan Thurston) would obviously be in the halves.

“It is a huge event … For them (fans) to be able to pick the side they want and get to see the player that they love (playing alongside one another) is an added bonus.”

Voting on the Indigenous team will close on November 28 before Stage 1 of the NRL All Stars voting kicks off on November 30.  Fans can select their Indigenous All Stars team at

“We sold the ground out last year and hopefully in February we’ll be able to do that again,” Barrett said.
