Holden State of Origin Game III is officially sold out a fortnight before kick-off with the 2013 series set to record the biggest attendance in the event’s history.

The sell-out crowd for Game III follows the biggest Game I crowd in Holden State of Origin history of 80,380, set on June 5 when NSW defeated Queensland 14-6 at ANZ Stadium in Sydney.

With more than 82,000 fans set to converge on ANZ Stadium for the deciding match of the series on Wednesday, July 17:

• Sydney is set to record its biggest ever overall attendance for an Origin series, which currently stands at 150,831, also set in 2004.

“I want to thank the fans for their great support of Holden State of Origin,” NRL Chief Executive, Mr Dave Smith, said today.

“The atmosphere at the first two matches has been fantastic and with more than 80,000 fans to be at ANZ Stadium for the deciding game it will be a memorable event.

“The support we have had from the NSW Government, Destination NSW and ANZ Stadium for the two matches in Sydney has also been tremendous and a significant factor in driving the record-breaking success of the 2013 series.”

The 2013 Holden State of Origin Series stands at 1-1 after Queensland won Game II 26-6 in front of another sell-out crowd of 51,690 at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium on June 26.
