47. Game One, 2001: Carl Webb powers his way over for a key try just before half-time
With 10 debutants in the Maroons side, Wayne Bennett's men were the butt of plenty of jokes south of the border in the lead-up to Game One against a NSW outfit that had run up a 56-16 cricket score in the previous year's final Origin clash, but it was the Cane Toads who had the last laugh at Suncorp with a resounding 34-16 victory. Highlighting the Queenslanders aggressive, brash approach was the barnstorming four-pointer from 21-year-old reserve prop Carl Webb, who powered through would-be tacklers Jason Croker and Jamie Ainscough to score a decisive try three minutes out from halftime.
