South Sydney players and fans celebrate during their Round 1 clash with the Broncos.

Telstra is making it easy to connect the whole family to Australia's best mobile network and share mobile data between devices with its new Go Mobile plans launching tomorrow.

John Chambers, Executive Director Telstra Mobile, said Go Mobile plans offer Australians more value, the flexibility to create family-friendly packages and more content with the choice of a bonus NRL Digital Pass or AFL Live Pass for 12 months or a 6 months bonus Presto subscription.

"Our customers have told us they want a simple and affordable way to get the whole family connected on their smartphones and tablets," Mr Chambers said

"So we're introducing new options to easily add new voice and data services to our plans so households can create a mobile package that grows with their needs and can be conveniently managed through a single account.

"And to complement parental involvement in kids' screen-time we're including a free cyber safety tool that allows parents to set time-of-day limits on calls and mobile web use, block unwanted calls and texts and choose the mobile web content that can be accessed on mobile devices."

From tomorrow, customers taking up Go Mobile plans can:

• Connect additional mobiles to a base Go Mobile handset or casual plan by using a new $40 companion SIM that includes unlimited voice, SMS and MMS to standard Australian numbers and comes with data sharing enabled (min cost $75/mth with a $35 Go Mobile Casual plan).

• Get data devices like SIM-ready tablets online by adding a $5 per month Data Sharing SIM to their base plan (min cost $40/mth with a $35 Go Mobile Casual plan).

• Share data automatically across all eligible plans on a single family or household account to make sure everyone gets the most out of included data allowances.

• Help keep kids safe by setting up Telstra Mobile Protect on kids' mobile and tablet services.

• Have the option to get the latest smartphone or tablet every 12 months for a once off redemption fee when they sign up to a new eligible 24 month plan and handset contract.

"For instance, if mum and dad each connect to a $70 Go Mobile Casual plan, they could connect two additional mobiles for their kids by adding two $40 unlimited voice and text Data Share SIMs. This allows the family to share 12 GB of data and enjoy cost certainty with unlimited national voice and SMS every month." (monthly min cost $220)

More sport and entertainment

Customers taking up Go Mobile and new Go Business plans tomorrow will also receive their pick of a bonus 12-month NRL Digital Pass, or AFL Live Pass, or a bonus 6-month Presto subscription (data charges may apply).

These bonus subscriptions mean Telstra customers with compatible devices can catch the on-field action on the go or enjoy a range of on-demand TV shows such as The Walking Dead, Modern Family or Sons of Anarchy.

"We know many of our customers are fanatical about their footy so we're really pleased to be able to bring together the speed, coverage and reliability of Australia’s best mobile network with some of the nation’s top sports apps to bring our customers closer to the action," Mr Chambers said.

"Fans can watch games live on their smartphone or tablet and access exclusive content like live stats and post-match press conferences. And streaming is unmetered with your smartphone directly connected to the Telstra Mobile Network on Go Mobile and other eligible plans."

More about the NRL Digital Pass

The annual NRL Digital Pass gives fans the ability to watch NRL matches live on their compatible smartphone, tablet or browser, with up to seven live games streamed per week across the Telstra Premiership, Auckland Nines, All Stars, World Club Series and State of Origin events. NRL Digital Pass also provides access to over 400 archived games from previous seasons, including every State of Origin game ever played, as well as live and exclusive post-match press conferences and in-match scoring highlights. Access is available from compatible iPhone, iPad, Android smartphone, Android tablet, Windows Phone, PC and MAC laptop devices.

More for businesses customers

Telstra is also introducing new Go Business Mobile plans tomorrow that come with more voice and data inclusions, and are designed to make working on the go easier for small businesses and their employees.

"As more small businesses embrace flexible working, owners and their employees increasingly need to access their email accounts, send files and use business apps on the go. The new Go Business Mobile plans come with more data that can be shared across the team’s services, as well as an extra data share SIM to use with an additional tablet or mobile broadband device. Many also come with unlimited voice calls in Australia to standard Australian numbers - helping businesses keep in touch with their employees and customers," Mr Chambers said.

More confidence to enjoy mobile data

Customers taking up Go Mobile and Go Business plans will be able to stream, surf and share with confidence thanks to the inclusion of Telstra’s Extra Data feature that gives people automatic 1GB data top ups to use in Australia when they exceed their monthly data allowance. Extra Data is charged at a great-value rate of just $10 per GB to be used by the end of their billing month. Extra Data works with Telstra’s real-time data alerts to ensure personal customers are always in the know and in control of their data use.

A plan with more

Telstra is also introducing the ultimate plan for personal and small business customers who live life on the go.

The Go Mobile Premium plan and Go Business Premium plan includes 16GB of data to use in Australia, unlimited calls and SMS/MMS to domestic and international numbers from Australia. When roaming in eligible countries, customers get unlimited calls and SMS to other eligible countries, plus 1.5GB roaming data every month. They also receive the option to connect their SIM-ready mobile broadband device with an included shared data SIM so they can share their mobile plan data. They can also upgrade their phone to the latest new smartphone at no additional cost every 12 months when they sign up to a 24 month eligible plan and handset contract. Plus, personal customers receive a subscription to Stay Connected, Telstra’s swap, replace and restore service for eligible mobiles and tablets which gives customers the option to swap their device twice a year for any reason.
