NRL Fantasy Files: Weekend trials
A wrap of the important NRL Fantasy news from the first full weekend of NRL trials that could impact your Fantasy selections.
He's a strong chance to start the season at five-eighth for the Panthers, but returning playmaker Te Maire Martin (HLF, $294,000) says he's not guaranteed the No.6 jersey given the depth coach Anthony Griffin has at his disposal. Martin – who's added bulk in the off-season after missing a large chunk of his rookie year through injury – was one of Penrith's best in their trial win over the Bulldogs. Read more.
Also on the comeback trail is new Warriors captain Roger Tuivasa-Sheck (WFB, $286,000), who played 40 minutes in his side's loss to the Storm. Tuivasa-Sheck spent the second half on the sideline with ice on a corked quad, but was impressive in his time on the field, scoring a try and assisting another. Read more.
Also nearing full fitness after sitting out all of 2016 with a knee injury, Kane Elgey (HLF, $197,000) played the full 80 minutes as the Titans ran in three late tries to down the Eels in Alice Springs. Read more.
The race for the Dragons No.7 jersey is heating up, with Josh McCrone (HLF/HOK, $276,000) and Jai Field (Not yet added) seemingly the front-runners following the Red V's win over Wests Tigers. St George Illawarra coach Paul McGregor hinted that Field's time in first grade is approaching, but that the rookie might have to wait until later in the year for his chance. Read more.

Robbie Farah (HOK, $435,000) was a surprise inclusion for the Rabbitohs' trial against the Sea Eagles, with the NSW Origin rake playing 40 minutes in what coach Michael Maguire described as "a good little hit-out". George Burgess (FRF, $302,000) also looked impressive with his injury woes now seemingly behind him. Read more.
On the back of a dominant second half performance against the Warriors Brodie Croft (HLF, $236,000) has emerged as a contender for the Melbourne Round 1 side, particularly if fullback Billy Slater fails to recover in time for the Storm's opening round clash with the Bulldogs. Cameron Munster has been training at five-eighth across the pre-season, but would revert to the back if Slater isn't fit. Read more.

Will Dylan Walker (CTR, $317,000) prove to be a popular pick in the notoriously tricky centre position in Fantasy? After playing in the halves for much of his first year at Manly, the former Rabbitoh looks destined to take retired captain Jamie Lyon's right centre spot. Walker scored a try and assisted another, also kicking three from four conversion attempts which suggests he's a strong chance of taking goal-kicking duties for Round 1. Read more.
Cowboys coach Paul Green confirmed spots in his forward pack and a bench utility role were "up for grabs" following his side's narrow one-point trial win over the Roosters in Mackay. Read more.
Jarrod Croker (CTR, $449,000) suffered a knee injury representing the World All Stars in Newcastle on Friday night, but should only miss the first few weeks of the competition after initial scans revealed the Raiders captain had dislocated his knee cap. Read more.
