The Brisbane Broncos are facing a make-or-break month which will go a long way to deciding their premiership hopes.

That is the word from Broncos legend Steve Renouf in the NRL Podcast this week.

Renouf tipped the Broncos to finish in the top four at the start of the year but with three wins from seven Telstra Premiership games he says "they will be flat out making the eight" if they keep going down the same path they've been on.

Brisbane plays South Sydney away on Thursday night before four home games against the Canterbury Bulldogs, Parramatta Eels, Manly Sea Eagles and Sydney Roosters.

Renouf analyses how the Broncos will go without the injured Andrew McCullough, whether Josh McGuire can fill the void at hooker and whether the club's recruitment has been adequate.

Renouf also discusses Gold Coast Titans coach Garth Brennan's sacking of Kane Elgey and the switch of Bryce Cartwright to five-eighth. He also casts his eye over the Cowboys' future prospects after seeing some positive signs from Michael Morgan and Johnathan Thurston in the win over the Titans.
