Maroons confirm camp switch

Maroons coach Kevin Walters continues to embrace change ahead of the 2019 Holden State of Origin series.

Fresh from announcing the addition of four former Origin stars to his support staff last month, Walters has confirmed a new base for Camp Maroon.

Instead of preparing on the Gold Coast, the Maroons will base themselves in the heart of the city at the W Brisbane.

Training sessions will be held at Davies Park, the home of Intrust Super Cup team the Souths Logan Magpies.

“We’ve really enjoyed our time at Sanctuary Cove over the past few years, but we just felt the need to freshen things up a bit,” Walters said.

“One of my responsibilities as the coach of the team is to provide the best possible environment for our players to prepare for an Origin game.

“And now that we’ve got some new faces in the team, the time is right to start afresh ahead of another challenging series.”
