2000

Australia trail 22-8 deficit before beating Wales 46-22 in their World Cup semi-final meeting at Huddersfield. Brad Fittler and Darren Lockyer both crossed for doubles.

2002

Terry Campese joins the Raiders on a two-year deal. The 18-year-old, who is the nephew of Wallabies great David Campese, went on to play 139 matches for Canberra, two for NSW and one Test appearance for both Australia and Italy.

2007

Former Great Britain captain Mike Gregory dies at the age of 43 after a four-year battle with a rare neurological disease. As well as playing 20 Tests for the Lions, Gregory had one season in the NSWRL with Cronulla.

2011

Darren Lockyer bows out of rugby league on the perfect note, scoring Australia's final try in their 30-8 Four Nations final victory over England at Elland Road. Jharal Yow Yeh was one of Australia's other tryscorers.

2015

North Queensland star Johnathan Thurston is announced as the winner of the Golden Boot Award by English magazine Rugby League World. It completes a clean sweep of major awards for Thurston after he earlier claimed the Dally M Medal, Clive Churchill Medal and RLPA Player of the Year award.

2020

NSW coach Brad Fittler criticises Queensland forward Jai Arrow over his treatment of James Tedesco after the Blues fullback was knocked out in a collision with Maroons forward Josh Papalii in Origin III. Arrow attempted to pick Tedesco up before dropping him again. Arrow escaped suspension but is fined $500, a punishment Fittler claimed was “not appropriate”.
