When officiating his fifth NRL Grand Final in 2019, Ben Cummins mistakenly made a call that became the major turning point of the game as the Roosters went on to clinch the title.

The fallout was truly unbelievable.

"I walked into the tunnel [after the game] and all the cameras were on me," Cummins recalled. "I remember thinking that this is not normal, this is big.

"I think my heart sunk.

"When you sign up to referee at the top level, you know that it comes with fans who are passionate and people that can say things about you or your performance. But when it brings in your home and your family, it's a different level and I found it really hard."
