Michael Morgan did his best JT impression for the Cowboys while the Storm uncovered a new gem and injuries struck again. Here are the success stories, flops and talking points to come out of this week's NRL Fantasy action.

Winners

It was a weekend of Origin auditions with two spots opening up in the Maroons backline for Game Three and Cowboys playmaker Michael Morgan did his hopes of squeezing into the starting side no harm with a sensational performance in his team's away win over Canberra, scoring 90 Fantasy points including two tries and two try assists.

Shaun Johnson wasn't far behind, producing a couple of assists himself and a whopping 552 kick metres on the way to 87 points, while South Sydney's five-try hero scored 84 on Sunday – a score matched by Newcastle's standout player and lone Origin star Dane Gagai.

Melbourne centre Curtis Scott was a late inclusion in the Storm side and continued a brilliant start to his season with 83 Fantasy points, bettering his captain (and, once again, the most reliable skipper in Fantasy) Cameron Smith who made 74.

Rooster Ryan Matterson will become a dual position player after his fourth start in the second row and it was his best performance of the year with 76 points, while Warriors back-rowers Bodene Thompson (71) and Simon Mannering (68) both went big again while Bulldogs prop Aiden Tolman played the full 80 minutes in the absence of injured front-row partner James Graham for 71 points.

Popular buys Dylan Edwards (66), Cody Walker (65), Nathan Brown (65) and Jake Trbojevic (63) were all excellent while playmakers Adam Reynolds (60), Luke Brooks (68) and Tui Lolohea (60) all starred in setting up wins for their respective teams on Sunday.

Losers

Injuries struck once again for Fantasy coaches with Josh McGuire's early concussion in Brisbane's loss to Melbourne leaving the workhorse lock with just 5 Fantasy points. Manu Ma'u (6), Jarrod Croker (18), Jesse Bromwich (17), Josh Dugan (23), Tyson Frizell (25) and Dean Whare (11) were the other popular Fantasy buys to have their scores affected by injuries this weekend.

Jordan Kahu (8) didn't have the best of games at the back for Brisbane against Melbourne, while Kodi Nikorima's price is tumbling after spending much of the Broncos' game on the bench once again and scoring just 16.

And it was a tough week for some of the popular captaincy options who misfired by their usual standards, with Jason Taumalolo making "just" 42, Paul Gallen scoring 44 and Andrew Fifita making 48.
