Cowboy #261

A Mareeba boy, Hampton returned to North Queensland in 2017 after a four-season stint with the Melbourne Storm. Hampton appeared in 35 games for the Storm, including a grand final in 2016. Hampton arrived at the Cowboys in 2017 after signing a three-year deal and registered 26 games in his debut season at the club, including the grand final against his former team. He appeared in a further 22 games in 2018, splitting his time between fullback and centre. Injury limited Hampton to just nine games in 2019, before returning for 13 games in 2020, which included a stint in his preferred spot in the halves. Following the early retirement of Michael Morgan in 2021, Hampton emerged as Todd Payten’s first-choice halfback, which coincided with a three-game winning streak before injury struck again in Round 8. Hampton signed a one-year extension for 2023.
