Emry Pere is a hulking forward from New Zealand who made a splash for the Cowboys National Youth Competition team in 2016-17, prompting the club to offer him a one-year deal in the club’s NRL squad.

Pere played 31 games for Aaron Payne’s team over the two seasons, and was selected in the Junior Kiwis team to play the Junior Kangaroos in May 2017.

A powerful ball runner, Pere will form part of the young forward stocks where he will learn his craft from experienced campaigners like Matt Scott and Scott Bolton.

Still eligible for the under 20s, hulking young prop Emry Pere spent the entire season in the Queensland Cup for Cowboys feeder side the Northern Pride.

Pere played in all 24 games in a successful season for the Pride, providing significant impact off the bench for coach Ty Williams.

Pere was rewarded for his stellar season with a starting front-row berth for the Junior Kiwis in their end of season clash with the Junior Kangaroos at Mt Smart Stadium.

The Taniwharau junior is contracted to the Cowboys through the end of the 2022 season.
