Adam Reynolds left the field with concussion during the first half against the Sharks on Monday night.

The Rabbitohs have been dealt a blow on the eve of the Telstra Premiership season, with halfback Adam Reynolds to be sidelined for as long as four weeks after being diagnosed with appendicitis.

The South Sydney playmaker withdrew from the Auckland Nines earlier in February due to hamstring tightness as a precautionary measure, and also didn't play in the Rugby League All Stars game despite being initially named in the World All Stars side.

Reynolds performed strongly in his side's Charity Shield win over the Dragons on Sunday, but will potentially miss the first four rounds of Souths' 2017 campaign.
