The Brisbane Broncos may have lost the NRL Grand Final by the slimmest of margins but they provided the three top-scoring Fantasy Grand Final players in a premiership decider that will go down as one of the greatest in history.
For all the talk of the Johnathan Thurston v Ben Hunt battle of the halves, it was Fantasy legend Corey Parker who topped the Fantasy points tally with a massive 72 in the Grand Final, thanks to 170 run metres and a game-high 44 tackles.
Here's who performed best in each position in NRL Fantasy Grand Final:
Hooker: Jake Granville (55)
The smart money was on Broncos tackle machine Andrew McCullough for this position (and McCullough didn't really disappoint with a solid 49) but an electrifying first 40 minutes from Granville including two try assists put him on track for an excellent 55 points by full-time.
Prop: James Tamou (59)
According to NRL.com's player ratings Tamou was the most impressive Cowboys performer of the night, and with a try, 30 tackles, 138 metres, two tackle breaks and two offloads he edged out Sam Thaiday (52), Matt Scott (42), Adam Blair (42) and Ben Hannant (41) as the best Fantasy front-rower as well.
Back-rower: Corey Parker (72)
The Brisbane workhorse was the Fantasy MVP of the 2015 NRL Grand Final, ahead of teammates Matt Gillett and Thaiday.
Half: Johnathan Thurston and Ben Hunt (55)
Note that Anthony Milford actually topped this category easily, but as he's also available at winger/fullback and that's where he slots into this ultimate six-man team. Thurston and Hunt had relatively quiet games up until those crazy final few moments, when one became the hero and one the villain thanks to an unfortunate golden point blunder and a premiership-winning field goal. In terms of Fantasy points the pair couldn't be split, with Hunt making a game-high 439 kick metres and five tackle breaks to balance out four errors for the match, while Thurston made five tackle busts of his own plus two goals and that magic field goal.
Centre: Jack Reed (48)
A try, line break and a try assist ensured Reed edged out Cowboys counterpart Justin O'Neill (46) to be the best-scoring centre of the Grand Final.
Winger/fullback: Anthony Milford (67)
Milford was superb for the Broncos, particularly in the free-flowing first half, producing two line breaks, seven tackle breaks and a whopping 219 run metres. Brisbane winger Corey Oates wasn't too far behind with his long range try and game-high 222 metres earning him 48 points.
Congratulations to NRL Fantasy Grand Final winner John Parkinson who scored 565 points (Granville, Tamou, Parker (c), Thurston, O'Neill, Milford (vc)). John won $1,000 cash for his winning selection!
And congratulations to the overall NRL Fantasy Finals Series winner Don Parker who amassed 4,380 points - the highest cumulative score across the nine games of the NRL Finals. Don pocketed $2,000 for his efforts!
