Mitchell Aubusson scores against the Storm at Allianz Stadium in Round 12.

After a classy two-try performance that also included 17 tough runs for 174 metres and six tackle busts, Shaun Kenny-Dowall has praised his inside man Mitch Aubusson for the vital role he played in the Roosters' Monday night win over Melbourne.

"He was awesome," Kenny-Dowall said of Aubusson. "He just shows how much he's respected in the team and what role he can play. He's an awesome utility he can play all over the field and he adds a lot of value no matter where he is on the field."

Kenny-Dowall should be happy with his right-side partner considering Aubusson set him up for two tries in the Roosters' 24-2 demolition of the Storm. The utility player also had a try of his own to cap a remarkable display.

"He can play in the middle, play on the edge, play in the centres. He's got a great array of skill, he can attack and defend. Those players are priceless in this team environment. He does what's required and what's best for the team week-in, week-out."

However the form Aubusson is showing may not translate to him holding down his centre jersey, with strike weapon Blake Ferguson set to return from a foot injury over the next week or two. Despite coach Trent Robinson singling out the classy centre for his performance, he also alluded to the fact that he is only "filling in" for Ferguson.

Aubusson would be entitled to feel disgruntled with the way he is moved around as a stop-gap measure in the Tricolours squad, but Kenny-Dowall said he would do anything for the team.

"That's Aubo [Aubosson] all over. He does what's best for the team. If that means coming off the bench or playing at centre, he'll do that job for the team, that's just the kind of bloke he is."

Meanwhile, Kenny-Dowall also attributed his side's big men for a dominant victory on Monday night.

"We know that's our game. I felt like we showed that's definitely our strength. To play through teams with the big guys we've got and create a platform to play off the back of power running through the middle."
