Storm out to end Knights' winning run

Forget the talk of banana skins, slip-ups or upsets: the Storm will be treating the Knights like another finals opponent.

‌Newcastle lost to Melbourne 40-12 in Round 13 and sit last on the NRL ladder, but Storm utility Kenny Bromwich says they have everything to play for on Saturday afternoon.

"We've been looking at Newcastle for a little bit," he said.

"They've actually been playing really well. They're on a three-game winning streak and you can't get complacent with a team like them, because the last couple of times we've playing them, we've had some tough games.

"They're a young side and I think they're starting to gel together really well. They've got a pretty good attitude the way they've been doing their things the last couple of weeks.

"They've been leading heaps of teams without being able to finish them off.

"We're just looking to go there and do our job against them, and see what happens."

Bromwich admitted the accolade of the best team during the regular season is a nice carrot, but it's still one week at a time.

"It is, but you still have to take every week as it comes.

"There are still three more games left in the regular season, so just looking at this week and playing well.

"It is a big motivation."

Nathan Brown's men have pushed the Storm in recent clashes, with their last match in Round 13 – a 40-12 blowout – an exception. The Storm's two wins prior were only four point margins (20-16 and 18-14 in 2016).

Bromwich says he's not sure why they've performed strongly against his team in recent times, but it could because teams tend to reserve their best again the Storm.

"It's probably the game a lot of teams circle playing against us, but we need to turn up and perform well."

Cameron Munster and Tohu Harris are training well, and Bromwich is looking forward to seeing the star duo contribute to another Storm win.

"They're looking pretty good," he said.

"Hopefully they can get through the rest of the week and see what happens come game time. Would be good to see them both playing, if they do play."
