Taylor signs multi-year deal with Tigers

Wests Tigers vice captain Elijah Taylor has re-signed with the club through to the end of the 2020 season.

Taylor moved to Concord midway through the 2016 season, and while he attracted interest from rival clubs the lock said the influence of new coach Ivan Cleary was a key reason behind his decision to remain at the club for a further three years.

"It was definitely a decision that I took my time with as I'm getting older now but I'm really happy that it's done now," Taylor said via a club statement.

"Ivan coming in as head coach was a big factor in me deciding to stay. He's an experienced coach and has coached me at both the Warriors and Penrith, he's the reason I moved to Australia, knowing what kind of coach he is, what his principles are and the way he likes to play football was probably the biggest factor.

"We're building a good culture here at Wests Tigers and I'm really looking forward to the next three years."

Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe underlined the importance of securing Taylor's signature as the club enters a period of change.

"To have Elijah commit to Wests Tigers for the next three years is a massive boost for the club as we enter this exciting new phase, it will be great to have him leading the way," Pascoe said.

Taylor will be joined at the Tigers by Josh Reynolds, Russell Packer, Ben Matulino, Chris McQueen and Taane Milne as the club continues to build a strong roster for 2018 and beyond.
