Considering how far they have come in the two seasons since winning the 2013 Holden Cup, Penrith's incredible stock of young guns have left many people amazed – none more so than their halfback and captain Peter Wallace.
Names like Reagan Campbell-Gillard, Isaah Yeo and Waqa Blake have truly emerged this season, while Dallin Watene-Zelezniak and Bryce Cartwright continue to earn further plaudits for their recent run of groundbreaking performances.
The quintet of youngster have played 94 NRL games between them. Considering Campbell-Gillard is the only one to have reached 21 years of age, it won't be long until they're lapping their captain.
"Compared to when I started, you had only a handful of players who were 19, 20 and playing in first grade, but now they're through every team. We probably have the most. It's amazing what they can do and just how developed they are at such a young age," Wallace told NRL.com.
"You only have to look at how big Bryce is and Reagan has probably been one of our best all year – it's an exciting time and we'll be in for a few good years yet."
So where does someone of Peter Wallace stand when it comes to helping this young crop of stars? Well he certainly knows he won't have to contribute when it comes to their abundance of talent.
The former New South Wales and Scottish halfback believes it is a matter of helping them adapt to the week to week grind of the NRL.
"I suppose [I don't feel responsible] for their talent in terms of leading the way, obviously they have a world of talent and they showed that on the weekend, but when it comes to the finer points of the game I tend to help out," Wallace said.
"A lot of young blokes are coming into first grade with a lot of confidence but it's the little things which count in first grade. They are going well and improving every week but [consistency] is one of the hardest things to deal with.
"When you're playing every week, you have to be up for every game but they are doing extremely well."
With their young stars booming and the club winning two on the trot, Wallace added the club is looking to build on their recent success, especially considering their 20-6 victory over reigning premiers South Sydney last weekend.
"It was one of our best performances of the year so we are certainly heading in the right direction," Wallace said.
"We still have a lot to work on but we're getting there. I hope [we've turned a corner]. As long as we can keep everyone on the field then we're going to give ourselves every chance.
"A few of us older blokes had a frustrating start to the year with injuries so it's good to see everyone back on the field. We have had the same team for the past three weeks and it's definitely helping us."
