Following Cronulla's emphatic Round 10 NRL Telstra Premiership victory over the Newcastle Knights, Sharks fullback Ben Barba made the dreams of a select few children come true.
Barba, who put in another strong performance on field, met with participants for the Newcastle Knights School 2 Work Program, speaking for close to 30 minutes under the grandstand.
The children quizzed the Sharks star player about his Indigenous heritage, his development into an NRL player, along with questions on the day's match.
Barba was more than willing to respond in kind.
The fullback sat with the children and answered their questions with ease, posed for photos and even gave the training jersey off his back to one of the children.
This opportunity was met with smiles and cheers from the children and is sure to go a long way to continuing to promote positive decision making, leadership and education in Indigenous youth.
The School to Work Program (S2W) is an education and employment program that utilises the positive profile of the game of Rugby League to support and encourage young Indigenous Australians to make better of themselves.
