At the beginning of 2012h names like Boyd, Sandow, and Blair dominated the headlines as big marquee off-season signings. Now with three games remaining in the regular season, the impact of new players on a club can be assessed. The question is, who has been the best buy of the year?

Tonight on NRL Daily, host John Gibbs and NRL stats guru David Middleton debate the best buy of the year and the other hot topics of the week in our ‘Voice of Reason’ segment.

“James Graham,” says Gibbs without hesitation. “He has given the skill levels to the Bulldogs pack. He’s been hearty and resilient and had a huge impact on the Bulldogs’ success.”

David Middleton agrees. “I don't think you can go past James Graham who has made a huge impact with the Bulldogs.

“He has size, skill and experience and what club wouldn't welcome an injection of those qualities?

“The Bulldogs did not make the eight in 2011 and now they are favourites to take out the premiership. Graham has been huge part of that transformation.”

Another Bulldog recruit also ranks highly on Gibbs’ list of the best buys of the year, which shouldn’t come as a surprise considering their place on the NRL ladder.

“The Dogs were in a hole with injuries to key outside back like Bryson Goodwin and Steve Turner,” Gibbs says. “Enter Krisnan Inu, and the problems have been answered. He’s been outstanding and really fit in with the Bulldogs.”
