Kenny Bromwich making his own name

It’s no exaggeration to say that Kenny Bromwich is having the year of his life.

The second-rower who re-signed with the Storm until 2018 in March, welcomed his first child into the world and played his second Test for New Zealand.

Rapidly approaching 100 first-grade appearances, the 25-year-old has carved his own path in the NRL and is now a mainstay in the Storm pack.

The chance to continue playing with elder brother Jessie remains a thrill for the younger Bromwich.

“I’d like to play with him for as long as I can," he said.

"It’s such a great feeling running out with him every time. We didn’t get to do it much growing up, so doing it here, is a dream to play in the NRL and we get to do it together.”

Bromwich has become a mainstay for the Storm in the second-row this year after helping the club to a grand final in 2016. He still gets a thrill from playing with the likes of Cameron Smith and Billy Slater.

“It was only just a dream coming into the team. I’ve always wanted to lace up the boots with them. I didn’t really think it would happen. I’ve been running out with them for quite a few games now.”

Bromwich has played a variety of positions in the forward pack, but is enjoying the freedom of participating through the middle of the park.

“All positions have their pros – I like playing on the edge,” he said.

“I like to work up combinations there with the halves and centres. I love playing in the middle, with all the action you see there.”

He joins a group of young players – including brother Jessie, Dale Finucane, Tim Glasby and Felise Kaufusi – who will form the mainstay of the 2018 Storm forward pack.
