Roosters fullback Michael Gordon against the Broncos in Round 6.

Gordon signs on at Titans

Michael Gordon is heading home.

The 34-year fullback has been released from his contract for next season by the Sydney Roosters to join the Gold Coast Titans on two-year deal.

While Gordon is heading to the exit door, the

It will be a homecoming for the former Tweed Coast Raiders junior, with Gordon asking for a release in order to move his wife, Tess, and children, Cruz and Kalani, closer to their extended family.

"I'm excited about the opportunity to return home and to play for the Titans," Gordon said.

Titans coach Garth Brennan believes Gordon will add depth to his squad. The former Penrith Panthers, Cronulla Sharks and Parramatta Eels veteran is set to fill the void left by Jarryd Hayne's recent return to the Blue & Gold.

"Michael is a player that everyone loves playing with and is the ultimate professional in every aspect of the game," Brennan said.

"We have a number of young players in the squad and Michael will help them with their development as well as be a leader amongst the group.

"His experience as well as his ability as a goal kicker will make him a valuable commodity here at the Titans."

With 225 NRL games under his belt, Gordon has no doubt his game will benefit under Brennan.

"I had a good conversation with Garth and the future looks bright," he said.

"I hope I can contribute and be part of a successful club here on the Gold Coast."

Roosters coach Trent Robinson thanked Gordon for his contribution to the club.

"Not only is Michael an experienced campaigner on the footy field, he's also a good man and it's been a pleasure to work with him over the last year," Robinson said.

"Popular among his teammates and a valued contributor both on and off the field, Mick has definitely left his footprint on the club and we wish him, his wife Tess and their children Cruz and Kahlani all the very best."
