Tickets on sale for Wayne Bennett’s Sydney ‘debut’

Tickets go on sale today from 9am for the 2009 Charity Shield, the feature match of the rugby league pre-season that marks Wayne Bennett’s first appearance in Sydney as coach of St George Illawarra Dragons.

The Dragons’ Bennett and Rabbitohs coach Jason Taylor will today appear at a media conference at ANZ Stadium (11.30am) to launch the 2009 Charity Shield. Media car parking is available on the ANZ Stadium down ramp.

Rabbitohs’ captain Roy Asotasi and recruit Colin Best will join Taylor alongside Bennett, Dragons hooker Dean Young and the newly signed Darius Boyd.

The Rabbitohs claimed a 24-20 win last year but the Dragons hold a 14-8 overall head-to-head lead with the 1990, 91 and 2002 games ending in draws.

With Bennett now at the helm and Gordon Tallis joining Jason Taylor’s coaching ranks expectations on both sides are already sky high.

Ticket prices to the 2009 Charity Shield at ANZ Stadium are as follows:

Category 1 Reserved: Adult - $35 Concession - $25 Junior - $15 Family - $75

Category 2 General Admission Adult - $25 Concession - $15 Junior - $10 Family - $55
