National Rugby League has today said that it is not prepared to embrace a proposal from the Cronulla Sharks that the club receives funding for the transfer of five ‘home’ matches to the Central Coast next season and for the following four years.

“The Partnership Executive Committee has only had the opportunity to look at Cronulla’s proposal on a preliminary basis,” NRL Chief Executive Mr David Gallop said today.

“It is not prepared to embrace the idea at this stage.

“We will continue to work with the club to explore all available measures and to further understand and improve its financial forecasts.”
