The National Rugby League has today issued the Gold Coast Titans with a breach notice for a $5000 fine after hooker Nathan Friend wore unapproved apparel in Friday night’s match against the Broncos. <br /><br />Friend’s headgear featured an advertising logo that was in breach of the game’s apparel regulations.<br /><br />“The guidelines in relation to sponsorship on headgear are very clear and only the manufacturer’s logo is permitted,” NRL Chief Operating Officer, Graham Annesley, said.<br /><br />The Titans have five working days to respond to the breach notice.<br /><br />The issue of sponsorship on headgear involves different guidelines to those relating to the appearance of flags, which the NRL has given approval to on a case-by-case basis.
