In a first for the National Rugby League, the WOW Brisbane Broncos squad has been immortalised on the iconic game of Monopoly.

Released today, the game features 18 current players and six club icons including legends Kevin Walters, Gorden Tallis, Wally Lewis, Gene Miles and Ivan Henjak.

Rather than wheel and deal with Mayfair and Park Lane, players have the chance to build a rugby-opoly empire through buying, renting and mortgaging their favourite Brisbane Bronco stars including Captain Darren Lockyer, Justin Hodges, Corey Parker and Nick Kenny all who feature on the famous Board Walk.

Brisbane Broncos Club Captain, Darren Lockyer said: “The game celebrates the Brisbane Broncos’ commitment to our loyal fans and the Club’s major objective through the Brisbane Broncos Charities Fund to provide funding to a varied list of charities.”

“With only 7000 games produced we’re confident these collector edition games will sell like hot cakes.  And it doesn’t matter who your favourite Brisbane Broncos’ player is, because when you buy one of these games you’ll be supporting the Brisbane Broncos Charities Fund and the Courier-Mail Children’s Fund.

The Courier-Mail Managing Director and Children’s Fund spokesperson Jerry Harris said: “This is a fantastic product and the fact it is endorsed by the NRL as an official product gives it enormous credibility.”

Brisbane Broncos Marketing Manager, Marty Rowen said: “The interest in this product has been overwhelming with hundreds of enquiries; it has really blown us away.”

The games are on sale now for $79.95 at WOW Sight and Sound and  Supercheap Auto stores.

The game is an initiative of the McGuinness McDermott Foundation and the nineteenth board game project in five years. The game is predicted to follow in the footsteps of the success of the AFL Charity Editions of Monopoly that were a ‘sell out’.

The project has been proudly sponsored by Channel Nine, The Courier-Mail, Radio 4BC and Nova 106.9.
