Injured NSW and Cronulla five-eighth Trent Barrett has failed to rule out pulling on a Kangaroo jumper at seasons end, despite Sharks coach Ricky Stuart publicly stating that Barrett would not be available. <br><br>“I’m not allowed [to play for Australia]. They caught him [Ricky Stuart] a bit off guard. We hadn’t really thought about it. You know what Ricky is like, if they ask him he’ll let them know,” Barrett admitted to BigPond Sports Weekend. <br><br>“I don’t know what we’ll do, I won’t have played for 12 weeks.”<br><br>“They [Australia] might be a bit hard up.”<br><br>Barrett suffered a cheek bone injury in Cronulla’s Round 20 loss to Melbourne at Olympic Park, joining a long list of players unavailable for the Sharks. <br><br>Coach Ricky Stuart recently said that Barrett could not play for the Kangaroos because another injury would result in more time on the sidelines for Cronulla in season 2010. <br><br>Speaking of his injury rehabilitation, Barrett said “It’s (cheek bone) all lined up, [it] didn’t need an operation. It’s going along alright.”<br><br>Pressed if he would make a surprise return for the flailing Cronulla outfit in the final round in order to avoid the wooden spoon, Barrett admitted; “I’ve thought about that… I’ll be right to play.” <br><br>Should Barrett play again this season, Australian selectors will be keeping a close eye on him - even if club coach Ricky Stuart has a different plan for his club captain. <br><br><a href="http://bigpondvideo.com/Sports-Summer-Highlights/199403"><b>CLICK HERE to watch the BSW interview in full.</b></a><br>
