Statistics revealed today by NRL.com show that the Melbourne Storm are the kings of the Grand Final replay.

Melbourne has never lost against their Grand Final opponent in the next competitive fixture. In fact, they have only lost twice in an entire season following appearing in Rugby League’s showpiece event.

This could be bad news for Manly ahead of the all-important rematch this Sunday at Olympic Park.

The Sea Eagles travel to the graveyard precariously placed in the top eight and will not want to hear the Storm’s phenomenal strike rate in Grand Final replays.

After being pulverized by Manly in the 2008 decider, only the Storm’s second loss in nine games the following season after a Grand Final, they bounced back and won 22-8 in Round Eight earlier this year.

But this is just a taste of their re-match heroics.

After beating the Sea Eagles in the 2007 decider, they dispatched the Northern Beaches club twice the following season.

They kept their incredible trend in 2007. After suffering a shock loss to the Broncos in the 2006 showpiece, they exercised their demons and knocked over their Grand Final nemesis three times the following year.

And after their maiden Premiership victory in 1999, Melbourne went on to dismantle the Dragons 70-10.
