It will be one of the biggest matches of the 2009 season, and Rugby League fans travelling to Melbourne will have a variety of accommodation and transport options to choose from when they book to be part of Week 3 of the Telstra Premiership Finals Series.
With tickets for Melbourne Storm members going on sale today and available to the general public from 9am tomorrow, accommodation and airline representatives have today assured fans they would have every opportunity to attend one of the biggest Rugby League matches of the season.
The Telstra Premiership Finals Series Preliminary Final between the Storm and either the Dragons or Broncos will kick-off at 7.45pm at Melbourne’s Etihad Stadium on Saturday, September 26, following on from the AFL Grand Final earlier that day.
Prime seating ticket allocations will be reserved for Ticketed Club Members and fans of the Dragons/Broncos for when they go on sale next week.
“With no interstate teams in the running for the AFL Grand Final there will be accommodation options available for Rugby League fans coming to Melbourne next weekend,” said Mr Darryl Washington, General Manager, AHA Accommodation Hotels.
“While some hotels will be booked out, there will be plenty of others with rooms available across a variety of price ranges, including three, four and five star hotels.
“I would encourage all fans thinking of coming to Melbourne to start their planning so they can book as soon as possible after Saturday night’s match and get the best possible deals.”
IHG, the NRL’s official hotel chain, still has rooms available at its three city locations
Holiday Inn on Flinders, Crowne Plaza Melbourne and InterContinental Melbourne The Rialto.
There are also flights still available across the major airlines out of Sydney and Brisbane.
Fans will be able to attend the Preliminary Final in Melbourne for as little as $25 with Category 1 tickets $50 and family passes starting at $70.
“Our ticket prices across all the Telstra Premiership Finals are extremely competitive,” NRL director, Marketing and Commercial, Mr Paul Kind, said today.
“Etihad Stadium provides a great atmosphere and both teams will be relying on their fans to help get them over the line and into the Telstra Premiership Grand Final.”

Tickets are now on sale to Ticketed Storm Club Members and will go sale to the general public from 9am on Friday, September 18.
Ticketed Club Members of the Storm and the winners of the Dragons/Broncos will be able to purchase tickets from 9am-7pm on Monday, September 21.
Prime seating tickets for Ticketed Club Members of the Dragons/Broncos will be reserved in all categories until they go on sale.
The public will still have access to buy tickets on Monday, September 21, for all areas excluding the Team supporter areas.
Tickets will then return to sale for all fans at 9am on Tuesday, September 22.
MyNRL members will also have access to tickets from 9pm on Monday, September 21, to 7am on Tuesday, September 22.
